Whisky Compass ("the service") is operated by Whisky Compass ("we"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It covers both the website at whiskycompass.app and the Whisky Compass Android app.

We do not collect location data, contacts, device identifiers for
advertising, or usage analytics. The app requests only the
INTERNET permission. Choosing photos uses the Android photo picker,
so the app never receives access to your photo library as a whole.
We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising. Your data is stored on infrastructure providers that process it on our behalf:
Data you post to your check-ins (display name, whisky, rating, note, photos) is visible to other signed-in users of the service. Treat tasting notes as public.
All traffic is served over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text. The mobile app stores its login tokens encrypted with a key held in the Android Keystore. Sign-in and sign-up are rate limited to slow down brute-force attempts.
Whisky Compass is about alcoholic drinks and is not intended for children. Do not use the service unless you are of legal drinking age where you live. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be announced in the app.
